Camera shy bride/photography

Are any of you camera shy? How did you get over it for the big day?
I absolutely hate looking at pictures of myself and I’m considering not even getting a photographer. I don’t see the point in paying hundreds to thousands of dollars for photos when I’ll be surprised if I like even a handful of them.

Did any of you opt to go with a family friend for a much cheaper price instead of a professional?

I opted for a friend who is a freelance photographer cus she's cheaper ahah or well she was free really I just paid for travel. I honestly didn't take many photos aha the point is to get good ones, but I know that in these sessions you do tend to have to take a lot of pics. Candids are great though. My fave pics were all candid.

So my FH and I are extremely camera shy and dislike attention. I strongly advise a good photographer. It’s your wedding day and I’m sure you’ve put in a lot of work. An experienced photographer will chat with you first and guide you through the whole process. We hired a wonderful photographer and practiced during our engagement photos. She gave us stuff to talk about and told us exactly what to do.

We're having a friendor do our photos. I HATE photos of myself. I said 30 to 45 minutes max of pictures besides ceremony. If the shots can't be done in that time frame too bad. I'm only doing it to my FS and family happy. It's honestly the last important item on my list being done that day.

Look in college student photographers potentially or hire a professional by the hour.

I’m pretty awkward in front of the camera half the time so I was afraid of having pictures. But I found a professional and she made us feel so comfortable like she was just one of our friends and the pictures turned out great for our engagement pictures.

My suggestion is to go with a good, professional photographer. They know how to shoot you so you'll look your best, know how to put you at ease in front of the camera and will make you feel less self conscious in front of the camera. They're worth the money.

I love being in front of the camera, but I would suggest getting a professional photographer! They know the right angles to make you look your best and do a great job editing the images as well. It's totally worth the cost!

I hate looking at pictures of myself because of body image issues, but my FH and I decided to get a professional photographer. Then again, he is a friend/former coworker of our that photographs as a side business and I dont think I'd be this comfortable around someone we didn't already know. He has known both of us for over 3 years. He is doing a great job capturing personality and concealing what in worried about on our engagement pictures and my graduation pictures for my Master's.
So if you're worried, go with a friend with skills if that is available to you! It makes it a much more comfortable.
