Calm me down please

Andrea, on July 21, 2019 at 10:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
I’m 3 months away from getting married and I just read 2 HORRIBLE reviews from June about my venue. Just awful. Prior to that I’ve only read good things. But there has been some changes in staff recently. I’m hoping it’s just brides who had unrealistic expectations... But now I’m FREAKING OUT. Is this just a normal part of getting married? Has anyone else felt like this??

I should have eloped.

No business receives 100% positive reviews. Only 2 isn’t much.

Are there specific complaints in the reviews that could address positivity to the venue beforehand?

For example, "It is important that our guests are comfortable. What temperature do you normally keep the venue?"

They could just be a couple of complainers. Thus happened to my videographer and while she is not a friendor I do know her and know they were just disgruntled for no other reason than their unrealistic expectations and demands.

What sort of complaints were they, anything specific? I agree with the PPs and this may be nothing to worry about, but if you wanted to be proactive, you could call the manager (or whoever) and politely say, hey, I read a couple of recent reviews that have me a bit concerned, what can we do to make everything goes smoothly for me? This way if there is something starting to slip there, you’ve at least made them aware that you have certain expectations and they may go out of their way to prove those reviews wrong since you brought it up.
(Or....again....it could be nothing - I just read a really bad review of the truly amazing place we stayed for our honeymoon and it was SO completely undeserving, it caused me to write my first ever TripAdvisor review just to counterbalance it!).

It'd depend on what the reviews said but honestly Id just let it go. Focus on your wedding not anyone else's.

Write down your worries and have a meeting with your representative from your venue. Go over the details with them and all of the worries you have.

And remember, that it is most likely just brides being really tough on everyone because something didn't go the way they planned.

Thank you all so much! I’ve calmed down.

I now see that I MAY have overreacted 😁😂
