Calling guests for dinner

Melanie, on March 9, 2017 at 2:43 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

For my wedding we are doing a very relaxed atmosphere. We are going to have regular tables, some high top tables for smaller groups as well as a side area (like a bar that goes down the wall for people to sit at) my question is since some of the areas are not true tables how do I call people up to go through the various food stations (were having 3 stations of different foods) ? I thought about having some fun way to call them up other than by tables/ bar area but I'm drawing a blank on what that fun method would be. We're having around 200 people so I definitely don't want it to become a situation where everyone is in line all at once.

What people are you calling and why are you calling them?

I went to a wedding g where the bride and groom went to each table to say hello (and sometimes make introductions) then they sent the table up to the food station. They were able to spend a few minutes which each guest that way too.

@TamraTexas....this is a genius idea. I love the idea of being able to say hello to each table all while making sure the buffet line goes well. We are having a wedding of approx 100, so we will only have about 12-13 tables to visit and it will give us a chance to connect with everyone a little bit at least.

This sounds like it will be very confusing for guests, and really weird for those sitting at the bar bc they won't really be able to talk to very many people. I also feel like it will take a VERY long time for 200 people to get through 3 stations.

This sounds, honestly, like chaos to me. If you're going to commit to stations, more has to be in place than simply inviting table by table. 200 people? You need at least 3 of each station, especially if they are cooking to order type stations.

I'm confused but if you're serving dinner buffet style the tables still have servers who should alert them that the buffet is open . If you're not seating them at proper tables then have your dj announce the buffet is open and let them figure it out

To be honest if u sat me at a "not true table" and then told me I had to wait to eat I would be annoyed
