My two sisters occasionally buy the boxed white wine & also the Pinot Grigio & they seem to like it. My FH & I drink red wine but if you're trying to go a little cheap I have had the Crane Lake Merlot before and I don't think it tastes bad for the price.

Do you have a total wine near you? I work there and if you walked in and told them your budget they could really help, the wine associates are awesome. Plus you get 10% off a case and they are having a sale soon (but you have to ask for it) where they are having mix and match cases. As long as you buy 6-1.5L or 12-750ml bottles you get 10% off. Usually you have to buy 6 or 12 of the same brand and type. Alot of people come in and buy this one wine that is $2.97 I don't remember the name... I'll get back to you.

I got tired of reading around the box wine section but you could always decant the wines so they aren't in the boxes it is also best to decant a red anyway to let it breathe.

I'm a $15 drinker so I don't have advice on that front but I would go with both pinots if you can get them in that range.

Thanks amanda that helps a lot. I had gone into total wine near by and that was were I was recomended the Crane Lake. (however we really weren't recomended any other wines under $5) I think thats why I'm wondering what else is out there.

I haven't had any luck with 2 buck chucks lately. But do you have a bevmo around you? I'd suggest doing a wine-tasting there.

Just did a google search for you:

    Beverages & More (bevmo)

    0333 Fairway Dr, Roseville, CA? - (916) 789-9399

    Good luck!
