Alright ladies not going to let I am a little on the nervous side... FH and I go to a 6 long hour long pre-cana class on Sat. (I much rather get it done in one day and in a group setting then over the course of 6 weeks) anyways... What should be expect from this? What is going to happen during this?...

What should be expect from this? What is going to happen during this? And what type of questions will be asked? I have no idea what FH and I are walking into.

And how we are making bad decisions. Also FH and I have been through much more then most dating couples have been through, without going too much into details, I have had family hardships where my dad's wife (stepmom) went around telling lies to just about the whole town (she literally went off the deep end and now is in a looney bin) that was a mess and then my dad died last Jan that took a toll on us. I mean I just don't want to hear a lecture about how I choose to life my life, it was my decision and I'm scared that is what I am walking into. But hopefully I am proved wrong! Thanks Paris for your input I think there are 30 couples who attend this shin dig so hopefully it won't be as bad as you had it.

Ours was smaller, like 25 couples. While I found some of it boring, I definitley think it was an overall good experience. I felt like my husband and I were doing pretty good since a lot of the stuff they talked about we had discussed but at the same time it also gave us some new things to talk about with eachother. Like everyone said, you get what you put into it. We never had to say if we were living together or not (we were), but I had the saem fear you did, I didnt want to be judged just becuase we do. I would say most of the couples in the room were in the same boat (living together before marriage) just by some of the things they said.

Yeah we were living together too during pre-cana. They didn't ask - they even said they didn't want to know, but then expressed their opinion (what the church says about it).

Oh yeah Liz i agree they express their opinion and make sure you understand it... I figure as long as I don't have a child (which if I did I wouldn't be ashamed of it) I'm doing something alright. And living together gives you a greater example of how a marriage will be rather then someone giving their opinion.

Psht, you're set! FH has a daughter (she's 11) and we made that known too. They get over things... at least at our parish. We were like "yep, we have an 11 year old AND we live together!" and they didn't kick us out, so you are set. haha!

Haha good deal! I figured this isn't my parish and I will never see these people again and all I need is my certificate to give to my parish so I can say I did it!!! Smiley smile in our interview I'm sure it will be a challenge with our one on one event!

The church can have a stance. In reality, they have to. Pre-marital sex is a sin. I get it. I don't know of any church that promotes it. Fine.

BUT it is not their place to judge. You living together is your business, not theirs. I have always been Catholic and will always be Catholic, but that does not mean I agree 100% on every issue. If pre-marital sex sends us to hell, I will see you there ;-)
