Cake/business insurance?

When booking your cake bakers, did your bakers have cake/business insurance? I met with a baker today and LOVED her cakes but she works out of her home and has no insurance. So if someone were to get sick and sue (hopefully this doesn't happen), the baker and myself and my FH could be liable. Am I...

When booking your cake bakers, did your bakers have cake/business insurance? I met with a baker today and LOVED her cakes but she works out of her home and has no insurance. So if someone were to get sick and sue (hopefully this doesn't happen), the baker and myself and my FH could be liable. Am I over thinking this or should I make sure I pick someone that is insured?

    Usually most venues require insurance ...

    And this cake baker is probably the least expensive in town because she does not have a business permit/occupational license/health dept. permit nor insurance nor pays income tax. And her homeowners insurance would not pay for a business-related expense.

    I used Theeventhelper.com

    I found it was the cheapest. Talk to you venue though. Sometimes they have a preferred vendor, like WedSafe
