Cake vs cupcakes

iris, on February 10, 2020 at 12:35 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
I’m in between doing a cutting cake with other desserts like cake pops, dipped pretzels and cupcakes, OR just doing one big wedding cake. It ends up being around the same price..I never know what I want lol. Give me your opinions and why

I did a traditional cake just because I liked the look of it. However if you want variety then doing an assortment sounds fun too

I prefer the look of one big cake because I think it's more elegant but I'm not opposed to cupcakes around a two tier cake if it's much cheaper!

Personally I think you should do what you and your future spouse prefer for dessert. My FH and I are not cake people but b/c my FH's grandmother is very traditional and freaked out when we talked about skipping cake, we are having a cake that will serve 90 and then we're having a dessert bar around the cake so guests can take their pick of what they want. We're also adding togo boxes and the desserts will also act as wedding favors.

I actually didn't ! But I did have a candy buffet table and I had a lot leftover from that. I also had another served dessert and that had a ton of leftovers.

We’re doing a single tiered cake for the cake cutting and then cupcakes for the guests! We wanted to do that so we had a variety of fun flavors for our guests. 😊 I never even thought of doing other sweets! I think that’s a great idea.

We're doing cupcakes...2 per guest with some extras. Granted, we are only having 17 guests total, but rather spend the money on a cake that will likely not get totally eaten, cupcakes are easy and they can take them to go.

I’m not really sure yet! We haven’t gotten quite that far in planning. Haha. We’re having between 50 and 60 guests so I would say maybe 75-85 cupcakes? I’m sure some will eat more than one, but some won’t eat any. I know I’ll definitely eat more than one. 🤣

We did a 2 tier wedding cake as well as a bunch of desserts. Each tier was a different flavor. Then we had mini cheese cakes, Oreo shooters, banana pudding shooters, donuts, and cookies. Our baker made all of it.
We chose this idea because it gave our guests options instead of forcing everyone to eat cake if they wanted dessert.

We are having cupcakes but I keep wondering if I should add some more desserts too!
