Cake vs. Cake Pops

Nykky, on October 1, 2016 at 11:40 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

So both my fiancee and I aren't huge fan of cake, but obviously there is a small traditional element to the top tier of wedding cakes. We see a lot of cake go to waste because it just seems people don't eat it as much any more. So - we were thinking of just doing a small 2 tier cake for the cake cutting and maybe just doing cake pops for dessert for everyone in various flavors. Has anyone seen this done anywhere or would this just be too little for guests? Open for thoughts/advice. Anyone maybe who has seen/done this would be helpful!

I am doing a 2 tier and then cupcakes, so cake pops would work I think

Recently went to a wedding where they had a small cake for bride and groom and had multiple flavors (a lot of fun unique flavors) of mini muffins ... they were about two bites for me...but I liked the idea of how tiny they were.. they had a lot, so guests were taking one or two.. personally, I love cake, but at a wedding, after all the food, just two bites for something sweet is plenty for me... so ether mini cupcakes or cake pops would be great. ( I'm not a huge fan of cake pops, that's just me)

We aren't fans of cake either. We're actually doing pumpkin cake truffles, carrot cake truffles, s'more pops (a big marshmallow coated in chocolate and rolled in graham cracker crumbs), and caramel apple pops (melonballer + apple + stick + caramel). We figured fall treats would be more appealing, there's still cake for those who want, and we get to slip in a nerd reference ("the cake is a lie" with a companion cube on the sign, but there's actually still cake, like in Portal).

We aren't cake people but HUGE brownie people. So we are doing a small two tiered cake (chocolate heh) and then a brownie dessert bar with toppings!! Smiley smile

I know that's becoming a bigger thing. We are going to do a cake for cutting and then cupcakes. Maybe you could do mini cupcakes
