Cake Topper Display !!help!!

Kaitlyn, on April 13, 2020 at 11:32 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

So, I ordered this cake topper that I LOVE! I think its funny and adorable and captures my fiance and I to a T. Here's the issue, I decided I wanted to do bundt cakes at our wedding instead of traditional cakes (since he doesn't even like cake), but now I don't know how to display it! We are looking at getting a 8" or 10" Bundt cake.

I can't find anything on the internet to figure out how to display the cake topper on/around the bundt cake Smiley sad

I would put on the table as a display. Or, maybe put the bride on the table, and the groom on a cake?

You can add a tier support, to support the cake topper. There are many kinds, but as you see the picture bellow, you can use the smallest plate and poke the pillar in the middle of the bundt cake. There are also tier support with a few thinner pillars, which I think is more stable 😉

The cakes you used to see in bakery displays on ones made to order, and many you see in frosting adds, always use cardboard models with frosting. Won't turn colors with mold and bacterial growth, or melt in window sunlight or photographer's hot spotlight. Make yourself, or get a bakery or someone to make you a cardboard mock up for your cakes and desserts table. You can do a traditional round cake, from those round cardboard hatbox or covered round craft boxes. Or make one like a log cake by using a large Quaker Oats ( 48 ounce size) cardboard cylinder on its side . Frost it with less oil ( no butter) more sugar content frosting, or the super plasticky fondant, gorgeous but awful to eat, that decorators love . No one expects you to cut and eat the layer with your toppers, so who cares it it is fake?

Because they are so frequently used, there are huge numbers of instructions on how to make a fake cake yourself, in older cookbooks as well as online. And since there is no cake, just frosting, cake decorators do them fairly cheap.

That’s a great idea! Do you think it would look awkward to the side of the cake?

I'd add a little "display" perch in the middle of the Bundt so that it's above it and yet still displays your bundt easily.

Well obviously it doesn’t have to be directly in the middle. You can still place it on top of the edge of the bunt. Or have a column inside the bunt that elevates the cake topper to a visible height.

There's dessert displays where theres a plate on bottom and then a pole with smaller plate screwed on top.. I would put the bundt cake on large bottom plate, screw the pole through the center of the cake, and display the topper on the top plate.. something like this, and you can put ribbon or something to decorate top handle

I’ve definitely considered DIYing a cake stand for your exact same purpose. Look on Pinterest for the dollar store wedding DIYs. They use candle sticks and plates or you could use wood slices. The thing with bundt cakes is the cake stands are usually completely attached together but for bundt cakes we would want them to be detachable. You would definitely want to try it out to make sure it’s sturdy OR bring a hot glue gun and attach the tiers together after adding the cakes.

I’m not a fan of most wedding cakes and I’ve never really liked icing. So I asked a friend to make her cream cheese poundcake for us. It’s my absolute favorite cake ever. We’ll serve it with whipped cream and berries.

First of all yum bundt cake! Now to the question, you could put it on top of a fake flower, or frost a round cardboard so it blends then put the topper on that
