Cake tasting?

Veronica, on September 6, 2019 at 12:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 20
How far in advance do you start wedding cake tasting for the wedding? I’m almost 7 months away from my wedding and this is the last vendor we need but not sure how far in advance we should start trying different bakeries and order our cake?

We did it about 7 months out, but it was included with our venue. I just wanted to check as many things off my list as early as possible. If you know what you want, I'd start soon. It will be one less think you have to worry about.

We did our about 9 months out. Oddly enough we choose Publix to do our wedding cake. They were booking up for wedding for 2020!! So we went head and choose our cake and flavor.

I also did mine about 9 months out, but did not make a decision until around the 6th month out!

We're 8 months out and currently looking, one of our last vendors to book. We've done one tasting, but we probably won't choose for another month or so. It really depends on the bakery and how busy they are in terms of how much notice they need. Better to be early booking than late!

Our baker is through the venue so we're supposed to meet with her two to three months before the day.

I wanted 8 months out to start tasting and we just put down the deposit last week and we are now 7 months out. It all depends on the bakery and how busy they are. But the earlier the better

I think it’s up to you really. I knew I really wanted the bakery I picked, it was highly recommended, always super busy. I didn’t want to chance not getting my date in their books.I was only in Denver for 2 days in April, so I did my tasting then.My wedding’s not till next August.

We did our tasting/booked our baker 8 months out! My baker is always really busy so I wanted to make sure I booked her far enough out so our date would be available.

We did ours last may and our wedding isnt until February 2020 so about 10 months out and our baker cautioned us not to wait too long as her schedule was filling up (we went with a small family owned bakery). We taste tested and ordered our cake and entire desert table right then and there. I'd start ASAP as the questions they will ask can also help you sort out some of the decor related questions. The cake is a good starting point and usually a really good and fun way to get your SO involved. My FH and I even practiced feeding eachother samples at her table (she works from home) when she went to grab another book to look at for ordering options.

My FH works on the road and our wedding is August 2020. Since he is not home every day, I am working vendors into his schedule. We have 2 cake tastings next month. In addition to our wedding, it's also my 35th birthday.

I am considering a 4 teir cake( 2 fakes tries for decoration) then a sheet cake to feed 100 ppl.
