Someone posted cake stands they DIYed the other day and they were gorgeous. I wish I could remember the member's name. Check through the DIY forum and you'll probably find it. They looked so good!

I don't remember the name of the user that MsVanWinkle is referencing, but I saw the post and she spray painted candlesticks and epoxied them to trays. I think she may have said that they were from IKEA?

This is the one I bought! I love it! its gorgeous & inexpensive... but its 12 inches ...we're having a smaller cake, so it works, but you may need a bigger diameter one.

    It is very sturdy though.

Hobby lobby usually has a 40% off coupon to use.

I'm renting one from the bakery doing my cake.

I wanted to do a stand like this and needed it to be 20" (bottom cake layer was "18). I found a seller on a local FB group who cut to order and only charged me $15. But...I had a couple of issues: it started to crack really bad and it was only 16". (The centerpieces he cut were all perfect). He was unable to find a larger piece and I dreaded buying an actual stand. (see next post, on mobile)

Thinking about the table decor, I realized that I just needed something sturdy for it to sit on, didn't really care how it looked lol. My uncle came through 2 weeks before the wedding and made this. (Final pic in next post, on mobile)

If your cake is round and smaller in diameter, consider making it yourself. I purchased a ceramic plate and cocktail glass from Goodwill (<$2 each), used super glue to piece them together, and spray painted it gold. When using the stand remember to buy a cake board (Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Walmart) to place on top since you won't want your cake making direct contact with the paint. If you want it to cover up the cake board to make it look classier buy extra flowers to insert around the bottoms edge of the cake.
