I want to include cake pulls for my wedding. I know who is supposed to pull; those close to you and who are single. Do you ask if they'd like to participate or do you just call them to the cake when it's time to cut the cake?

That's up to you. Everything I've read is that they are reserved for bridesmaids regardless of marital status. Definitely decide before the wedding day how you want to dit.

I went to a wedding with a cake pull. They announced it right before they cut the cake. They just called out the names of the girls who were going to be involved. Once they were all up there the each pulled a ribbon and then they explained what each thing meant. She choose her bridesmaids and a few other friends. I thought it was very cool.
