Cake price?

Bella, on January 19, 2020 at 4:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 30
How much are you paying/did you pay for your cake? Did you do a tasting prior? Did that cost? Just looking to get an idea of what everyone paid so I know if I am getting a good deal. Please include how many tiers your cake is.

Our cake tasting was free. We paid 350 for 3 tiers, buttercream with minimal decorating. The cake wasn't a huge splurge for me.

Was the tasting before or after you had booked? I know my cousin told me that she went 3 different tastings all free with no commitments before she decided on a cake place.

I just remembered that we paid a 25 tasting fee that went to the cake. I think most bakeries allow you a tasting for free, or like ours will charge you a fee that you can then put to a cake if you book. We could've walked and let them keep the money, but we really liked the cake lol. And like I said, taste was more important than the style. Our other tasting was free, no strings.

I’m in Chicago suburbs. We payed about $320 for our two tier cake with a buttercream filling and minimal decorating. Our tasting fee was $50 prior to booking.

Luckily my cake is included in my wedding package from my venue. I personally do not like cake so we will be having donuts as well!

Cake tasting was free. We did a 2 tier cake and it was $135 before tax. Our baker also did a full dessert bar for us for an additional cost.

    Also, 💛Sheet🎂from Wal-Mart with 🍫 frosting for the 🤵’s 🎂.
I had ordered for 1:30 pick up in order to ensure maximum freshness.

Wow looking at everyone's prices has me shook. Having my wedding in a small town limited bakery's. I am doing a 3 tier cake to feed 150 and it's $600!!!! 🤯

In So Cal, daughter's 3-tiered "spatula finished" cake that served 120 guests was about $450, including delivery. I think it was about $3.75 per serving, and it was a DEAL daughter found by comparison shopping. All the other cake vendors she talked with were in the $5-10 per slice range. Her baker was a small, independent cupcake shop, that also does wedding cakes. It was delicious, and the owner was willing to work with daughter to custom mix the frosting because daughter has issues with food textures and found many frostings to "slimy" to stomach. She was super happy -- don't be afraid to talk with lesser known options. (There was no charge for the tasting.)

We went to a place that quoted us $750 (including delivery fee) for a completely basic three tier buttercream cake for 100 people, no decorations at all (florist is doing flowers). And they charged us for cupcakes to taste at home. I was in shock and tried to keep a straight face when she quoted us haha. Was prepared to hate the cupcakes but they were actually delicious to my chagrin 😅

Going to another tasting next month that charges $40 for the tasting but it goes towards your cake if you go with them.

Our tasting was $35 if you didn't end up booking with them BUT we did so it was free. We're getting a great deal. $388 for a small 6in cake to cut and 17 dozen cupcakes (half vanilla with raspberry filling and half chocolate with a chocolate mousse filling). They will be decorated very simply. We decided cake was one of the least important components of our wedding so we went the cheap route!

80 people, but I think it might be closer to 90. We'll def end up with cake leftover more than likely.

So, I'm not sure of the cost of the cake as we actually won our wedding cake through our bakery (Southern California). We'll be getting a 4 tier cake that feeds 200. We are only paying the delivery fee of $65. We did already have a tasting scheduled with this bakery before we won our cake and that was completely free. Luckily, I've had this bakery's cake before, so I knew it was delicious.

Yeah I'm kind of shocked lol. But we're not doing fondant- rosettes on one layer, lacey detail on the second, and gold foil for the third. Plus we only did one flavor, so that may have saved us some too.
