Cake pops and cake?

Kimberly, on January 16, 2020 at 3:07 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 19

The catering company i am going with serves cake when everyone is done with their meal. It is just what comes with the package i paid for.

Me and my fiance are not fans of cake tbh.

So since there will be cake served with dinner as dessert for everyone, i was thinking of doing cake pops for everyone as my "wedding cake" since there will already be cake. (Me and my fiance prefer cake pops over cake anyways)

No need of wasting money on a cake when it's already being included with the dinner menu.

Thoughts?

I don't think I understand. So your guests would be served cake from the caterers and just you and your FH would have cake pops?

The guests will be served cake from the caterer, yes.

I would get enough cake pops for all of the guests. I will have close to 70 people and the cake pops are only $1 a piece.

I don't think I would bother with cake pops for guests after they've already been served cake. You could do cake pops for just the two of you or have another dessert option for guests like pie, donuts, or other pastries.

I agree with Caytlyn. Cake pops sounds redundant after already having cake. If you're in the saving money mindset, then you don't need to provide anything else!!

I agree, no need for cake pops if everyone already had cake. Buuut, it would be cool to have some kind of treat table! Smiley smile

I think cake pops would be a good idea for it they doubled as your party favor but other than that I agree with pp that it's redundant after already getting cake

Ya, i think i might stray away from the cake pops now...lol

I was actually thinking of like a cookie cake...like the giant cookies layered with icing in between or like a cream like texture!

    Thanks for your input!

This is why i love this site....i am always getting a different insight on things!

    That is so neat Alma!

    Never even thought of that.

Are those usually inside of the reception room or like when you first walk in near the card table and guestbook?

Yes it’s fun for your guests to get up and grab something Smiley smile I guess the placement of it depends on the layout of your venue. I personally would place it near the reception area.

I think cake pops sound super fun! We are doing wedding cake, cake pops & cupcakes (all redundant lol) but together they make an awesome presentation on the dessert table.

We had wedding cake served after dinner. We also had a candy bar that was open all evening. We had cake pops for our favors.

If your guests are already being served cake, I would offer them something else. Cake and then a cake pop may be a little too much cake.

I would skip second dose of cake and do sweets table, late night warm donuts, or ice cream sundaes/sandwiches
