  Maybe you can ask for suggestions from the baker and see where to go from there? And if you have wedding colors then you could incorporate that as well

  Most bakers have a list of flavor options they are willing to make and a portfolio of their past work.

  Start off with what you and fh like if you like vanilla than have a vanilla cake if you hate blueberries than stay away from it

  I would go for a tasting and ask for a portfolio of past wedding cakes. That can help you identify what you like in that baker's particular style, so you know you'll like the final result, too.

  I just went on Pinterest and printed out some cakes we liked and showed them to our baker. Based on the types we liked, he suggested a similar design.
