Turns out it's a home Baker in some ones house. O sm so pissed. I thought I found a deal. O don't really trust home Bakers so now I have no cake. Smiley sad Smiley sad Smiley sad

I went to like a dozen bakeries before I found one I liked most. Or you can come up with different alternative to wedding cake?

I wouldn’t necessarily discount someone who does it out of their house. Is the person trained and qualified? What about experience and reviews? There are a lot of really great, qualified, trained people that do this out of their homes just because of the cost of running an actual bakery.

Our Baker is someone that went to culinary school but does it from his house. His cakes are amazing and delicious. Probably oke of the best cakes I've tasted.

I just want to say that my baker is a home baker and her cupcakes are better than any bakery I've ever had, fo a taste test and come up with a contract if you like the flavors and the styles

Granted it's our florist, but she runs her business out of her own home to save on overhead. She's also a floral instructor at our local community college.

Give them a shot and go for a tasting, they may surprise you.

My baker was recommended by a wedding planner who has known her for years, but our baker works out of her home. Her reviews are fabulous. I totally trust her.

Our Baker also had her business from home and has been doing cakes over 20 years. She just recently got her own location and this woman has the hands of an angel because her cakes are AMAZING! she had turned her garage into a mini bakery in order to bake event cakes, she entered and won competitions and she's done it all from home. She worked so hard to get her own location now. You never know! And we did tasting in her home, she does all fillings by scratch, she plated everything and labeled it just as if we went to a real bakery. I feel like the bigger a baker gets via location SOMETIMES the less quality it is.

Some of the best wedding cakes bakers make them out of their home.
Price is reasonable, because they dont have the overhead of a storefront.
Lots of catering businesses start at home as well as bakers.

Obviously this is a "to each their own" situation but trust me, not all at-home bakers are trash. We hired one and the cake looked and tasted amazing. Wouldn't hurt to visit their home for a cake tasting before making a decision!

I found her on Facebook before I was engaged. I tasted cupcakes that I bought for an Easter dinner a while back. Then meet with her and sampled 6 flavors before booking. She recently made my friends cupcakes for her bachelorette party. She is making a 6 inch cake for us and 3 flavors of cupcakes. Best advice is meet them, check out their work space, ensure they are licensed, taste their work, ask for references, and always have a contract. Best of luck

Sorry I just saw the reply. A friend of mine had brought a cake into work. I asked her where she got it. She gave me his name. Well worth it. See if you can find someone who has bought from them and ask their opinion. Typically they're as good as a bakery and way cheaper. I'm paying $275 for a 3 tier, custom designed cake, with delivery.

Just because she's a home baker doesn't mean she doesn't know what she's doing. Some of the best desserts/cakes I've ever tasted came out of a "home baker's" kitchen!!

You're obviously impressed with her price, so give her a shot. Schedule a tasting with her, tell her you need to see samples of her work (pictures), and find out how many wedding cakes she has done in her career. This can actually be an advantage to you. See if you can find any reviews on her, or talk to others who have used her. If the tasting works out good, you can consider hiring her for the wedding cake.
