Cake & Flower Delivery Tips?

Private User, on September 25, 2014 at 11:41 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

Wanted some general feedback on if any other brides are tipping for cake and flower delivery? There is already a charge for delivery in both of the contracts and the individuals delivering the cake and the flowers are the owners of the business. Is this something that is still expected in this case? I was looking at this article as a reference...

Wedding Delivery and Set-up Staff

Slip a few dollars to anyone delivering important items to the site (wedding cake, flowers, or sound system). And if a lot of gear needs to be brought in and set up (tents, chairs, or port-a-potties), the workers deserve a tip too.

Protocol: Expected

The $tandard: $5 - $10 per person

When to Tip: Drop off cash envelopes the day before the wedding to the catering manager so the person accepting deliveries can turn the tip.

I didn't tip the company/person that delivered our cake. I did my own flowers.

I won't tip our baker, but I'll tip her driver and any staff she brings to help her. Same goes for the florist and any other vendor.

If there are delivery fees, there is no way I would consider tipping them.

Although a tip is always appreciated by those who receive them, I also think we have become such a tip happy/ tip expecting society. I personally don't plan to tip either my florist or baker. I'm paying for the delivery and paid a huge amount for the product considering their costs. If they need more money, they should adjust their rates.

There are delivery fees because gas/tolls are ridiculously high not because they're charging a fee just to charge. But tipping is optional and I believe the employees should get a little more, not the owners, etc.
