Cake Flavors

Lacy, on November 5, 2019 at 3:14 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12

Hi everyone! My FH and I are expecting about 140 guests at our wedding. We are going to do a traditional wedding cake that serves about 76, a round groom's cake (University of Kentucky themed - Go Cats!) that serves 25 to 35, and then we are going to have 4 dozen cupcakes to supplement with other flavors. A dozen of our cupcakes will be chocolate vegan cupcakes for vegan/non-dairy guests. We are going to do a cake tasting, and I need help on narrowing down the flavors we want to taste. What cake flavors have you chosen? Have you been to any weddings with killer cake flavors?

We just did a tasting at a regional grocery store and we loved their strawberry with champagne filling, tuxedo (1 layer chocolate 1 later white) also with champagne filling, then we will likely do a carrot kitchen cake with either mixed buttercream/cream cheese icing or just cream cheese. Still trying to find a good option for vegan/non dairy.

We chose a traditional wedding cake, and then 75 slices of Strawberry Surprise, Chocolate Supreme, and more wedding cake. We are also doing a grooms cake in Almond Zebra which tastes like a chocolate covered cherry.

We decided our best option was to do a chocolate favor, a fruity flavor, and a seasonal flavor. That way there would be something to please everyone. We went with chocolate with cookie dough filling, strawberry, and caramel apple.

    oh and...go cats!💙

Most people who are sensitive or allergic to chocolate are actually allergic to dairy. Cacao allergies are extremely rare, and as a someone who is non-dairy myself but will indulge on my wedding day, the chocolate vegan cupcakes are to die for from this lady. If somebody does happen to have a chocolate allergy, then they can eat one of the other flavors that will not be chocolate.

I love all of the strawberry recommendations. This is definitely one of the flavors we are going to try out at our tasting. I'm thinking I'd like to go with two layers of strawberry and one layer of traditional wedding cake for the traditional cake, but I won't know for sure until we do the tasting. I'm so excited!

I'm SO excited about our cake flavors! Our baker does amazing cakes, and the cake tasting has been one of my favorite parts of wedding planning.

For my wedding cake we're doing strawberry cake & lemon cake. For the groom's cake, we're doing chocolate fudge with chocolate ganache, cookies and cream with marshmallow filling, and almond wedding cake (I'm not the biggest fan of white cake so we're doing a small tier of it on the groom's cake).
