Cake dilemma

Lindsay, on August 18, 2019 at 5:41 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
I’m stuck on how big of a cake to order. Because we are having our reception at a restaurant the guests are already getting served a desert of either apple tart or chocolate cake and gelato. We were thinking of doing a wedding cake for apx 35 people for us to cut into and then having apple cider donuts as well with take home bags for people who would prefer to take their donut home as a midnight snack. Should I just nix the donuts and do 1 large wedding cake? Not sure how many of our almost 80 guests will want wedding cake after the sit down dessert. Help!

This is what we were thinking of- but will people be upset if there’s not enough wedding cake for all 80 people?

You'd be surprised how many people may not want to eat cake. I say stick with the half and half plan.

A lot of people dont eat cake, but would eat other deserts. Do the small cake and the donuts.

With all the other desserts you’re providing, you should be okay banking on only half your guests eating cake.

I think a lot of guests think the wedding cake is important and want to save room to try it, especially older guests. You might not need enough cake for 80 but at least half.
