Cake and punch

CallmeSam, on July 15, 2017 at 2:35 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

After reading other threads. I would like to know what is a good time for just cake and punch?

How does cake and punch work? Everyone at the reception has cake and punch and that's it!!? No appetizers atleast?!

Please someone explain politely.

I'm thinking of starting the ceremony at 2. I'm thinking it lasts 40 min? (No i haven't found my officiant yet). So everyone inside the venue by 3pm Til 7pm??

It will be on a Sunday.

Any thoughts. I'm trying to cut costs as much as I can. I want to have my wedding and have all y family there but I rather save the most I can for our home....

Who has done a cake and punch?

Cake and punch can definitely have finger sandwiches or fruit and veggies platters.

They usually only last a couple hours, not 4, as that takes you into meal time, which means you need to serve food.

I wouldn't expect your reception to last longer than two hours. Most people don't stay at this type of reception very long.

Finger foods/appetizers, drinks and cake. I think anytime before 3pm for the start of the reception.

I agree with PPs. Your timing is fine but the reception shouldn't be four hours. Especially not from 3-7. That dips dangerously into mealtime and I for one, would leave after two hours max.

You can have finger foods with a cake and punch wedding (it's preferred).

I would suggest starting the wedding at around 2 pm or so and no longer than 5 pm. You don't want to go into the dinner hour. I would say max 3 hours for the whole thing.

Way too long for cake a punch. Expect that people will leave by 5-5:30. Even if you add some hors d'oeuvres, people will still leave way before 7pm so they can get home and cook or get a table at a restaurant.

I agree with @OliviaP's timeframe. Also, as PP said 7 would dip into dinner time.
