BYOB Venues?

HappilyEverAfter329, on October 23, 2016 at 9:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hey everyone!!

So I've been contacting so many venues lately and a couple told me I had the option of BYOB if I wanted to save money. I'm trying to find out if it would be worth it or just more to worry about! Does anyone know how that works at all?

Thanks everyone!

Brittany

You would definitely save money, just make sure to find out if you need to get insurance or if it's covered under the venue's (you probably need to get it).

Our venue was the couple stocks the bar. I prefer that bc my husband & his family like specific liquor and it was never the kind included in the open bar packages. Our venue included the bar tenders we just had to provide the alcohol. Worked out perfectly. We even had about 20 bottles leftover. My FIL was kind enough to cover the bar (he spent $1,200). Because our wedding was in New Orleans and was certainly a party crowd we didn't have much wine (I love wine btw, but it just didn't fit our crowd). I liked that option because it allows you to tailor to your crowd & spend as much or as little as you want.

Oh and we got all our alcohol on base so it was discounted & tax free. DH and one of the GM (army) went every month during our engagement and purchased what liquor was the special sale for that much.

Mine is byob, they provide the bartender, and the mixologist is going to create two signature drinks for us. All that should help with the liquor cost.

Ours is BYOB so we will be getting everything in bulk from a local liquor store and have it delivered straight to the venue. Easy peasy

Ours is BYOB too. It will save you so much money to bring your own alcohol. I am having it delivered to the venue. They will help us pick it out and hold it in stock until the wedding.

It is definitely a money saver. We recommend a number of small restaurants that don't have liquor licenses, and it's real factor for our couples.

You decide what you want to serve (and that might be just beer and wine), you bring it all in and hire a BT.

If you do BYOB, things to think about are :

    - does the venue require you to have licensed bartenders serving

    - because alcohol is being served, does the venue require you to have security? If so how many officers (usually it's 1:100 I think). If security is required, do you hire them or does the venue?

    - will the venue have a "bar", countertop, serving station for you? Ice? Cups? etc ...

BYOB is a great option but more things to do/set up.

BYOB allows for flexibility for your selections based on your crowd, and several of the larger retailers allow unopened bottles to be returned if unused and unopened.
