byob and diy catering

Melissa, on September 10, 2018 at 1:46 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
I am looking for a place to host my wedding reception that will allow us to bring in our own food (home cooked) and our own alcohol (byob) in OKC or surrounding metro. Anyone know of a good place that allows this?

Most venues won’t let you bring your own food due to liability issues. Hire a caterer and it will be a lot easier to find a venue. Plus it’s not a good look to ask friends and family to work on your wedding day.

BYOB should be much less of a problem.

Agree with above. And I live in the OKC metro. You may have luck on the self-catering somewhere like a VFW, but I know our VFW we would have to use a licensed bartender and their alcohol.

I would say state parks are a good one for this.

    Hey Melissa!!

Have you tried starting a WeddingWire vendor search? You can search in the OKC area for venues, find a bunch that you might like, and call to ask if they'll allow you to bring your own food/drinks! You can also check the reviews to see if anyone mentioned them allowing it!

I'd definitely consider hiring a caterer though to ensure a stress free wedding day! You (and your family/friends) might find it less hassle because you won't have to worry about food sickness, food preparation/clean-up, and providing utensils, linens, silverware, etc.! Smiley smile

Thank you all for your comments so far! I am marrying into a huge Hispanic family so culturally they actually WANT to cook and provide food for everyone. It's part of their contribution to the wedding.

Wow, I've never heard of that before, but I like it! Have you had any luck in finding a venue that will keep up with this tradition, Melissa?

I am in the same situation! We all help and make food. All the aunts and sisters. We would just have servers at the venue so we wouldn't have to worry about that. It's not dangerous, at least to me, to take your own food. We are so close with all of our guests that it's like inviting them to your home to eat! My family and his will get together and buy all of the beer. We are expecting 300. I've noticed Hispanic weddings are much different in that we focus on the food, and dancing! Atleast mine do lol
