For my reception, we are supplying our own alcohol for the bar. I'm not much of a drinker so I don't really know what's a must have and what's a nice to have. Can you share some of your favorite wines and spirits (for mixed drinks)? For example, should I provide both vodka and rum? If both, what should I have more of? What are some solid beers that aren't expensive? Also feel free to also share your favorite brands. Thanks!

Notes: 100 Guests, Budget might be about $600-700 for alcohol.

I'm not sure I'd consider Moet affordable with that budget. Maybe if that were all you were providing.

I would also recommend having more than one type of beer. Corona, Bud Light (or Coors), Blue Moon, Guinness, Sam Adams, an IPA are all good choices, and echo everything a PP said about wine choices, and adding liquor.

Noted. I'll probably provide two beers after all of this feedback. My budget is flexible fortunately. I just would hate to run out of alcohol but I also don't want to have too much.

You can get a keg at most liquor stores or at the brewery itself. A craft beer keg usually costs like $150 and a domestic keg is like $100. I would defiantly get more than one beer. Minimum you should get one light domestic beer (i.e.Budweiser, Miller, Coors) and one craft option. If only one craft option is open get a craft beer with wide appeal like a wheat beer or pale ale. My favorite wheat is Boulevard American Wheat and my favorite pale ale is Schlafly Pale Ale, but those are both Midwestern brands. I wouldn't get YingLing or Henikin or something like that as your craft option because it is not very different from the domestic beer option.

When I was planning a wedding for 75 people, I was quoted $700 just for beer and wine. Could your vendor maybe give some suggestions?

Most likely. I’ll meet with my caterer in June to discuss my selections but I’ll probably start purchasing our alcohol in increments.

Jack Daniels, Captain Morgan, Bacardi, and regular along with a few flavored Vodkas, usually cover everyone.

Depending on your crowd, you probably won't need quite as much alcohol if it's a Sunday wedding. Most people have to get up early for work the next day so I'd try to focus on maybe 3-4 drink mixes as well as wine and at least 2 beers
