Buying Paper for Tented Placecards, menus, and Programs

Caitlin, on September 1, 2019 at 8:51 AM Posted in Style and Décor 1 4

Hi!

I'm printing my own placecards, menus, and programs. I decided to buy the paper through cardsandpockets.com after reading great things on here. I ordered some samples to check out the color variations. Before making the order, I folded some of the samples because I'm going to be folding both the placecards & the programs for the ceremony. I just wanted to see how the fold would look on the particular paper. I've included a pic below. I feel like it looks so sloppy...I'm assuming because the paper is thick --however I figured it would be most appropriate to use cardstock weight paper instead of regular printer paper of these items. If you also did this, What did you do?? Did you use thick paper? Did you feel the folds looked sloppy?

Could you just order the pre-folded blank place cards and print them yourself? You can get Avery brand at Staples, Walmart, etc. and they come with free templates!

You should score them before folding, for a clean fold. You can get a scoring blade for a paper cutter (it doesn't actually cut) or a scoring tool you can run along side a ruler (think ball point pen with no ink)

Instead of folding, can you get some sort of card holder? I think that will look better. Otherwise, I agree with PP’ers. Getting them scored or pre-folded will be your best option.

I would try the Avery brand from staples, office max or Walmart. Yes I think those look a bit sloppy.
