Hi! I’m wondering if anyone has ever purchased appetizers or other food and didn’t go through their caterer? I am able to cut $100’s, literally 2/3 of the price my caterer is giving me if I purchase the charcuterie boards and fruit and veggie trays through Costco. However for some reason I feel...

Hi! I’m wondering if anyone has ever purchased appetizers or other food and didn’t go through their caterer? I am able to cut $100’s, literally 2/3 of the price my caterer is giving me if I purchase the charcuterie boards and fruit and veggie trays through Costco. However for some reason I feel like this would be so rude of me to do. Is it rude? Or is it ok? Do people do this? Did anyone else do something like this and it was fine? Just trying to figure out if it’s completely normal before I tel my caterer Smiley smile.

The last wedding I went to early last year served apps like this.....although it was BEFORE COVID!

Due to covid, I would not eat this as a guest, so it would be wasted money.....

Thank you for your input, but it didn’t answer my question.
Because of COVID we have to seat guests at tables with their own household or social bubble (which we would be doing anyways). Each table will have their own set of apps. So the concern of COVID is not an issue as they will only be sharing with people from their same household. If any guests still would be concerned then I’m assuming they are the ones who have decided to not attend.

We’re having a laid back mini-mony with about 20 guests and are doing apps separate from our caterer. The bar will open about a half hour before our ceremony (which is in our backyard) so we just want something available to snack on. Ours will also be Covid friendly. Maybe it’s not normal for a big fancy wedding but if your venue and caterer are ok with it then go for it.
