Buying a veil after you bought your wedding dress

Virginia, on July 11, 2016 at 6:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

I have bought my wedding dress and it is in my MOH closet but I didn't buy a veil when I picked out my dress. Now I am thinking it is going to really hard to pick the right veil without my dress on. My dress is ivory and silk. The silk makes it look a little darker. Any advice on picking out a veil?

Take the dress with you if you think you need to have it on to pick one out

Id choose something that compliments the detail on your dress. Ex: if you have lace details but not an all over lace dress you might want to try a lace veil. My dress has a lot of beading so I'm trying to find a veil with a little beading on it.

I bought my veil several months after I bought my dress. I made sure to take plenty of dress picks that reflected the details and color of my dress with me. It's also a smart idea to find out the return policy prior to purchasing the veil just in case it doesn't work out how you imagined it.

I don't think the shop you bought your dress from would mind if you brought your dress with you to try on veils. If there are other shops you want to visit, I'd ask when you make your appointment if they will let you bring your dress in with you. You could also order a few online and take them over to your friend's house to try on with your dress (just make sure you understand the return policy). I also think pictures of your dress' details would be helpful if you visit a place that won't let you bring your dress to the appointment.

You could probably go to the shop that you bought your dress from and try on a dress sample and a few different veil styles.

Bring your dress to try on veils, or wear the sample dress
