Hello everyone this is my first time posting on WW. I'm would love some advice on my little (big) situation. So my FH decided that he wants to purchase a house before we get married in August 2018. Am I crazy!!! Is this an insane idea? Im already starting to feel overwhelmed as it is. We started looking about two weeks ago and fell in love with one and put in a offer and just to find out yesterday they accepted our offer. I couldn't sleep last night thinking about it. Don't get me wrong I'm super excited but just feel like we should wait until after the wedding.

    I bought my house before my wedding best choice ever your wedding is still pretty far away as is mine. But once you get moved in and settled you're going to be so much happier I don't even remember any of the stress from househunting hope this helps

    I bought a house while we were in a relationship but not jointly in our names. Dangerous thing that - major joint purchases before marriage. If you ever break up, god forbid, it's an absolute mess

    Do not use Michelle's idea of having the wedding in your backyard unless you are prepared for insane amounts of work and more money than you planned on spending on a typical venue. Like a lot more money.

    I don't think it's crazy. Just explore all your options!

    So long as the finances aren't an issue, I don't see a problem.

    Buying a house can be stressful (but fun!), but it'll all be over long before the wedding.

    (Biggest home buying advice I can give is to not settle!)

    As a PP has said some lenders recommend you keep your bank accounts with a certain balance and refrain from large purchases. See if you can avoid any large wedding expenses during this time.

    If it makes you feel better we are closing on our house within the next couple weeks and getting married in August of this year. It honestly hasn't been too stressful. You will be fine!

    We did this. Yes, it's crazy. But we're thrilled with our new house and it was worth it.
