Buying a Dress Without Seeing in Person?

Lacey, on January 11, 2020 at 2:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Have any of you purchased your dress without seeing it in person or trying it on? Specifically looking at Saldana Vintage. Their dresses are gorgeous and I’m looking to have one customized but they do not have a show room so I just have photos to go off of.
I’m just nervous about it. I’ve tried on dresses already but I hated everything!

I didn’t go dress shopping (in person) at all. But I saw a pic of a dress that I really liked. However l, after researching, I found out that it was from a few seasons ago and the designer was no longer making bridal gowns. So I looked ALL OVER online and finally found 2 bridal salons (out state who) were selling it new, unused and in my size. I ended purchasing the dress, had it shipped and it was perfect!! 😍

However, I also know what I like and what looks good on me. So I found the process to be easy. But I know that doesn’t work for everyone.

If I were you I’d go to a store and try on a dress similar to the one you want to order, just to make sure you like how the style looks on you

No way! The dress was too important to me and I don’t even like catalog shopping.

I bought my dress online without seeing it in person. The website I ordered it from had free returns, but when I got my dress and tried it on, I absolutely loved it! Best decision I made and I got my dress for $1200 cheaper than retail! I guess it just depends on the risk you are willing to take.

I purchased my reception dress without seeing it in person. I purchased it online with only having tried on the same style.

I havent ordered it yet, but I found mine randomly fumbling around pinterest over a year ago. Fast forward to a month ago and I find it online and found out they do custom measurements. MOH and a close friend that might not be able to travel saw a picture and I have been strongly advised to not even look at others. Of all the dresses through time and space, none other compares.

I bought my dress off of Etsy.
I had the original "product" images to go off of, but since mine was custom-dyed and custom additions were added, I was pretty much buying the dress without seeing it at all.

I was really nervous about buying it online (especially having no idea how it would turn out), but I knew I couldn't find what I wanted in my wedding dress in any store so I bought it!

When my dress came in the mail 6 months later, I fell in love with it!

All that to say, I would go to stores and try on styles that you think you might like and the style of the dress that you're looking at online so you get an idea of how it would fit on your body (it seems like you may have already done this). But other than that, I think buying a wedding dress online is perfectly fine - albeit a little more stressful - so long as you do research from wherever you're buying it from. Smiley smile

I would try on a dress similar to the one you want so you at least know the type of dress you like before you customize one! This is how I found my dress!

One of the dresses I absolutely love. I’ve never tried on in the color we need it in. If I order it I’m ordering a dress I’ll have no clue how the coloring will look against my skin tone. Plus it’s okay to be nervous about something like this. It’s your wedding dress and you want it perfect.
