Hello everyone. Since my church doesn't allow confetti, rice, petals, etc or anything else that makes a mess of church grounds I was considering a butterfly release. Does anyone have any experience with a butterfly release? I'd like to the pros and cons. Thank you! UPDATE: Relax people, I will not...

I agree with everyone else, the butterflies wouldn't be a good idea. What about sparklers, bubbles, or glow sticks?

Monica...? Will you come back and let us know you've decided to nix the butterfly idea and go with something more romantic and less morbid instead?

Go for bubbles. My friends daughter did this at her lavish birthday party and my butterfly was dead. It was super sad

Our venue charges extra for flower pedals and won't allow glitter. We're considering having mini bells that people can ring and take home afterwards or throw away themselves.

I went to a wedding that did this. The MOB did it as a surprise and most of the guests and wedding party were uncomfortable with it (me included). It wasn't pretty, Please don't do this.

eta - I agree with the bubbles

Hi guys! Thanks for all the feedback. It was definitely what i needed. Looks like we'll be doing bubbles. I don't need any kids traumatized by dead butterflies lol. Besides that they are expensive. Thanks again!

You do know that butterflies are extremely delicate and important to the ecosystem and that by doing this, you are killing a bunch of insects that could be pollinating a field of food instead of being "pretty props" at your fucking wedding?

Seriously, people definitely need to read the comments before going on mini rampages.

OP, glad you decided against it!

OP you should probably update your post to say you aren't doing butterflies. Otherwise people will continue to respond to your original post in outrage lol

EM, let's be honest, people will do that regardless because they'll just look at the subject line and not give a shit about being informed.

Monica- leave the thread so future brides can see, but maybe update your title to "update-NOT doing a butterfly release" so people know they can stop commenting to you like you are now that you know better and have decided not to. Smiley smile
