Hey! Has anyone done a butterfly release as their sub ceremony? Please let me know how it went and if you liked it/ would recommend it! Thanks Smiley smile

I'm not sure what "sub ceremony" is. I haven't done a butterfly release or seen one myself, but I have heard horror stories about butterflies arriving dead or dying soon after arrival/falling out of the containers dead or injured. PLEASE don't do this. Using animals for props is never worth the risk.

Oh good point ! A sub ceremony is doing something like the sand unity ceremony or like the lighting the unity candle. I wasn’t a fan of the typical ones and was looking for something outside of the box!

My cousin did this 20 years ago and it went well - they are big into the environment. In hindsight I'm not sure it was the best idea for the reasons PP mentioned.

Personally, I am not really one for sub ceremonies, because I am religious and to me the ceremony is the "unification", where the meaning comes from. But that's just me!

I am going to agree with Maggie and just say don't do it. If you don't like the idea of any unity ceremonies then just skip it. Not that big of a deal.

I would say Yes if they’re purchased via a safe route... lots of animals arriving dead in the mail due to our current status 😞

Isnt your ceremony in march? Depending on where you live, that may be not the ideal weather/temperature for butterflies to be released in.

Please don't use animals as entertainment for your ceremony. I know they're "just butterflies," but it could potentially hurt or kill them. There are plenty of other unity ceremony ideas.

I would advise against, as it is cruelty to animals, (transporting wild animals, storing in box, releasing into unfamiliar place?) so not good karma for a wedding in my opinion.

As PP have said- please do not do this. It's cruel, animal are not props. Plus, yes, I've read many horror stories about this
