Busty brides and backless dresses

Erin, on February 5, 2019 at 6:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 16
Hello all!

Title says it all lol. I am a small person but I have some big boobs 😂 (Apologies for my bluntness).

I wanted to know what my other blessed chest brides are doing if they have backless or low cutting dresses?

Are you having cups built into your dress or what have you done? My alterations appointment is coming up soon and I’m not sure of what to do.

I plan on doing a lot of dancing at the wedding and would prefer not to have a Janet moment lol.

My alterations lady is going so sew in bust cups for support to hold the girls up. She also has to take the sides in so it fits tighter, that will help hold them in too.

I'm looking into low back corsets so have more support and bone structure. My dress has none so I will need a corset.

I would say the cups put into the dress would be my pick, it seems like it would hold best. Maybe double up on both the commented options?

A lot of women get cups sewn in. My daughter's dress didn't allow for that so she used a stick on, that combined with a properly fitted bodice worked well.

I will most likely have cups sewed into my dress.

I am also pretty short and small but have a big chest. I found a dress I loved and am going to lower the back but they said to do this it will require straps!

I'm a 34DD and had cups sewn into my dress since it was backless. I felt supported all throughout the day and it looked fine.

Okay that makes me feel a lot better since I am a 34E. I figured it would have to be cups as that low back corset looks a little uncomfortable especially since it’ll be hot around the time of year I get married.

I had the same question before my first fitting but will be having cups sewn in my dress! Glad to hear this has worked for others, that makes me feel relieved!

I wear a 32DDD. I avoided the issue all together and opted for a conservative dress. It was such a hassle dress shopping. Seems like all the gowns are backless or strapless!

I definitely understand that. At first I wanted to go strapless but my mother, sister, and cousins collectively said “NO. Not with your boobs” lol. So, I was like hmm.. okay I’ll go sleeveless and backless as my FH favorite look about me is my back and I definitely wanted to show it off.

Getting the cups sewn in is probably the best way to go, but if you're looking for a more affordable option, I would recommend adhesive cups. I'm a 34D, and my dress is very low-cut in the back, so a strapless bra wasn't an option for me. I tried the adhesive cups I ordered on Amazon with my dress a couple weeks ago, and you couldn't even tell they were there! There were two sets that came in my order, and they're reusable to a certain point, and I've used one of them several times without any "Janet" moments. Smiley smile

Although, it would depend on your actual cup size and how your dress fits in the bust area, it's definitely a cheaper option to at least try, and if it fails, you can always go with the sewn-in cups at your alterations appointment. Hopes this helps!

I went to a good lingerie store, bought a bustier and took it to my fitting. The seamstress at the bridal salon, sewed markings into the bustier where it needed to be altered. Then I took the bustier back to the lingerie shop, and they altered it for me. It was about $100 for everything. It was an expense I hadn’t counted on, but I needed it. Cups sewn into the dress we’re not going to do it for me.
