Busty Bride doesn't want to look top heavy

Aw, I feel your pain! My size is 30 DDDD. SIGH. I am SOO DREADING when I start looking for a dress/undergarments.

Here is what I researched:

+YES---undergarments are KEY---spend money if you have to to get the BEST FIT and LIFT

+Strapless IS good for busty girls---it opens up the area (more fabric=more weight)

+Sweetheart or scoop neckline only. If you go with a V-neck, make sure it is not too plunging

-Avoid too much ruching, ruffling, beading, or lace on the bodice

+A-line works best

-No big, tulle skirt

+Simple is best

OMG, I would definitely do something about your David's experience. That is so outrageous. If someone behaved like that, I would tell them to go "insert horrible phrase here" and walk out of the store. And I'm actually not a bitchy woman either, lol. That scares me about Davids. I will try other places first and use them as a last resort.

I too am busty (36ddd).

I'm not a big fan of the uber princess gowns, but I want an elegant gown still.

I've been eying some of the wedding dresses at JCrew.com . There's some great dresses that aren't all sparkly and shiny, but still say "elegant bride", my favorite one even has pockets hidden in the skirt. Plus they have a lot of different styles and cuts.

I also agree with the others about the importance of fabulous undergarments. Check out Bravissimo.com, their a UK based company specializing in "busty" underthings and bathing suits and such. they're awesome!

Wow I would definitely contact the manager at David's Bridal. Maybe it is just that consultant. The store here (Toledo, OH) was awesome and the sales and alterations staff were very helpful.

I am a 38ddd and I went with a strapless gown but had the seamstress add straps. It is actually fitted so it creates more of an hourglass silouhette.

I had the same problem finding a dress. I'm short and heavy and big crested. That makes for a really bad time finding a dress. When I walked in the first time they took me to the largest dressed in the store! It felt like I had no choices at all! But after going to several stores I came back to David's Bridal and found a beautiful

A-line halter beaded lace, removable modesty panel, and lace-up back. It was nothing I was looking for at all. I’m very simple and very much jeans and t-shirt kind of girl. But the dress is beautiful and when I put it on I didn't notice all the flaws I feel like I have with my body I just knew it was the dress! Style: 9T9218

I am also a busty girl (currently a 40D) and plan on losing about 60 lbs. before the big day next April. Regardless, though, I will still be busty (sigh). I don't want the girls being the focal point of my dress, so I really appreciate all the advice. And I will STEER CLEAR of David's! (Although, my 5 bridesmaids are all from different states, so I picked 5 dresses from David's and told them to order the one they like the best, since they are in every city).
