Bustling Organza??

Shania, on May 13, 2016 at 5:11 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

This is the back of my dress. It has a chapel length train and it does get in the way when walking and just moving around in general. It's not a huge inconvenience and it's really light, I am just worried about ripping it. My alterations appointment is June 21st, but I want personal opinions seeing as I know nothing about bustling and don't want to go in blind and end up getting convinced to doing something I might not like. Would this be something I should even consider bustling? If so, what kind of bustles would you recommend? I read a few things about organza not holding bustles, and another about doing a bustle underneath? I searched online for pics of my dress, but it's new and I haven't seen anything..

Ask a bridal seamstress, since they work with dresses like this every day.

It's possible. It might cost you more. Mine was layered tulle and we did bustle it.

Of course I am going to ask a seamstress, just haven't had my appointment yet. I just wanted to know others opinions on whether or not they'd even consider bustling it in the first place.

LadyMonk- did it hold really well? How was it secured?

I would definitely get a bustle. I'm sure the seamstress can do it

    ETA: I can't spell

Maybe a train flip or ballroom bustle would work?

ShibaMommy - A train flip is kind of what I was thinking too! I read that they can be tricky though, so hopefully I get good results if I go that route.

JennV - Ah thank you! This whole time I've been wondering if I even need one, or should ask about one. I'm sure they'll probably ask?

I would be too afraid it would get damaged if it was left down, but that's just me. I would suggest asking about extra points if you're concerned about security, but the type of bustle may just depend on the look you prefer.

My dress is organza and I ran into issues with bustling it. When you purchased your dress did they show you how it would look bustled? I took mine to an independent seamstress who does tons of wedding dresses, it was a huge mistake. When she went to bustle my dress she pleated the skirt which totally ruined the flow of it. I had her take the bustle out because I hated how the dress looked and since my train is not too long I'm just going to leave it down or use the strap underneath on my arm

My dress is organza and I've been thinking about this for a while. The best one I've seen for my dress was from this blog:
