Bustling Lace Ballgown with Scalloped Trim

Diana, on July 21, 2018 at 2:02 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Hi all— I’m in the midst of driving myself nuts about how I’m going to bustle this bad boy. I have a terrible fear of having my bustle break mid-wedding so was considering just getting rid of my train, but now I’m not even sure that would be possible given the scalloped trim. What kind of bustle do you think would be best, does anyone have any photos of dresses with similar shapes/trains that perhaps had lace trim? I also worry that since the train is so wide it’ll be that much more bulky & bubble-butty—trying to resist buying a reception dress if I don’t have to Smiley smile For reference my dress is Mori Lee Mariska, #8187. Additional photos in comments Smiley smile TIA!

I would look at a French bustle. I'm adding one and...total swoon.

I don’t want to share a pic of my dress for fear that my fiancé will see it but it’s a casa Blanca and the style is Angelique if you want to look it up Smiley smile it has a cathedral length train with a thick horsehair trim and lots of lace detailing on top of a full tulle skirt. I was worried like you but they told me that they can bring the train up using hook and eyes and attach them all along my waist. That will do at least 5 or so and it will basically look like the original dress without any train. This doesn’t seem to add as much volume to the butt area from what I’ve seen. I believe it’s called a ballroom bustle. I haven’t had mine done yet though. I found this link very helpful. https://www.weddingbee.com/blog/wedding-dress-bustles-5/

If you want to remove the train they can do it. They take apart the skirt at the waist and pull it up the length that way- they will untack the appliqué at the waist and wherever else they need to and then put them back on once the length is how you want it

I wouldn’t stress too much over the bustle. Your seamstress should be able to show you a few great options for a bustle. Ball gowns have so many bustle options! I have a sheath style dress with a train and scalloped edge and my bustle turned out great.
