Bustle/A-line?

m, on February 26, 2015 at 8:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

I have an A-line dress, and had to google what a bustle was, and still trying to figure it all out. Will talk to my seamstress, but just wondering...

Do a-line dresses do a bustle? The dress doesn't have a distinctive train, but it's about 2 ft too long right now, and I'd like to have something trailing behind me for the ceremony.

If they do need/can have a bustle, what works for that shape?

My dress is A-line and she added a bustle because my train is long and there's no way I could possibly walk around in it, usually its clipped up right before the reception so you can dance. I have a standard bustle I guess? it's just clipped up.

There are a billion different types of bustles. If you will have a traim dragging, you probably will need a bustle for the reception.

That being said, you can PRETTY MUCH put any kind of bustle you want on it, it just depends on the look you want.

Yes, a 2-foot train on an A-line dress can still be bustled, and probably should be if you're dancing in it at the reception Smiley smile

My dress is a-line and they did a 5 point over bustle. I don't have any pictures, but basically it keeps the same shape of the dress and just pulls the train up.

I have an A-line dress. The attendant said if I wanted they can remove the train completely since I'm having an outdoor wedding. I'm not sure this is the case with any dress though. Mine is very flowy and mostly tulle. I think I'll probably keep the train and add a bustle though.

My dress was an A-Line with just a little bit of a train. The seamstress added a five point bustle, which we didn't do until after the ceremony. It looked nice, stayed well and I didn't have to worry about my dress getting stepped on during the reception. When I get to a computer I will post a pic. The app isn't uploading my photo.

I have an A-line dress with a chapel length train. I'm doing a bustle so while dancing I don't have to worry about me or other guests stepping on my train.

I have an A-line dress that is going to be bustled. It would be impossible to move and dance for the reception if it wasn't.

I really love that my stubborn FSIL told me it was for "more fullness, so you don't need one." And I told her I'm fairly sure it's so you don't walk all over your sh*t. She said no. It's so nice to be right.

I used the first bustle here and it worked out great. http://www.projectwedding.com/ideas/57220/bustles-for-your-gown

I had an A-line that as modified to be more fitted. She did an 11 point disappearing bustle (tucks under at the hem line) for the lining and then since had ruching on my overlay, she did a side bustle for that. ETA pic
