Bustle??

Haley , on May 17, 2019 at 5:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
Hey brides! I only have 6 days until the wedding and just thought about my bustle! My dress didn’t need alterations so I totally spaced getting the bustle done. Has anyone used DB for their bustle? How quickly can they do it and what’s the cost? If I don’t have time could I fake a bustle with safety pins or something?? Thank you!

If I had to guess, a local seamstress may have a quicker turnaround than David's. Can you look in your area for one or ask for suggestions from friends? You may get lucky and DB could get you in quickly.. If you call they should be able to give you a better idea if it's a possibility.

You may have a hard time getting into DB so quickly. Your best bet would be to contact a local seamstress and beg. A local seamstress will probably be cheaper too.

I don't have any experience but depending on the cut of your dress, maybe a wrist loop could work in this time crunch? Excuse the Twilight picture but it gets the point across...

    good luck!

How long is your train? The wrist strap like PP mentioned might be the best and easiest option.

Do not go to David's Bridal for a last minute alteration! I avoided getting my dress there and then begged my FH not to order from Men's Wearhouse after hearing some horror stories. You're better off going to a local seamstress, preferably one you trust.

An over bustle is most likely going to be easiest. If you know how to use a needle and thread all you have to do is sew on a button and make a loop with string. Watch a you tube tutorial. Bustling is really really easy and people tend to pay way too much for it.

Thanks for the advice ladies! I think I might be able to get away with sewing a quick button/loop since the train is so textured... could also add the wrist loop as back up.

Congrats! Adding a bustle shouldn’t take more than a day. When I picked up my dress I was encouraged to try it on, and good thing I did because the dressmaker forgot to add some of the buttons and loops! The store helper added them then and there.

Look for a local tailor or seamstress you can trust, they are more likely to give you the attention and delivery date you need.

Just a heads up, David’s bridal will only alter dresses that were purchased there, and even if yours is from there they’ll definitely charge a rush fee at this point. See if there’s a local place you can take your dress to.

I would definitely ask a local seamstress! She will probably be cheaper and she might even be able to do it while you sit and wait on it if she’s back not super busy! I find that ladies that do alterations in their house are the cheapest, quickest, and most dependable
