Bustle-tulle Dress

Lizbeth, on June 3, 2019 at 11:49 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

Hi!

I was wondering if I can see pictures of bustles on a tulle dress! I really don't like how bustles look and Davids Bridal told me a wrist loop wouldn't be ideal so i was wondering what bustled look on real dresses

Personally I hate bustles especially on tulle, I think they look messy and just bunched up. The entire bottom of my dress is tulle so I ended up just removing the train so that a bustle wasn't necessary. I know a lot of people wouldn't want to remove their train but I'm super petite and, though it was pretty, it was overwhelming and so much easier to handle and move in once I got it removed.

    I agree.

Is cutting in the same price range as a bustle?

This is what the bustle they did on mine looks like but I didn't settle on it so I'm looking to change it bc I hate how this looks.

I don't have a photo of mine yet but I went to a different tailor than where I bought my dress and it looks okay! I will try to get a picture, but I can't get a picture of it home alone or while my FH is around haha.

Oh wow, I hadn't even thought of that, as the bottom of mine is tulle. Ugh!

Oh I so wish I had a photo of mine to show you. I bought my dress at DB but took it to a private seamstress. rather than doing a strait line bustle like a French or American, she just pulled up peaces where she thought it looked good. and it really does look good all bustled. it looks even more like a ball gown! I will see if I can post pictures tonight

I had to have the entire dress hemmed anyway since I am short so they just counted removing the train as part of the hemming so it wasn't an additional cost. I just paid for the hemming which covered the train removal plus all of the layers being hemmed.

Here’s the back of my dress with and without the bustle. I didn’t have anyone to take full pics of me in it.

I had lots of layers and tulle everywhere. My bustle wasn't the best, but it worked.

Love the details on the dress!

It looks like it flowed nicely once bustle, that's the look I want to achieve.

Love your dress! your bustle doesn't make your dress look messy or bunched up. I like it!

So first picture is my train second if the best one I have of the bustle and also at in and out burger because why not? Lol!!! I’m pretty short so my bustle I feel like ended up higher then most? Also I had 4 layers so there was an under bustle and an over bustle.

I will post pictures when I get mine back...but my seamstress did a 6 point bustle, which pinned the under layer fabric up separately and then pinned the tulle up together. 3 points for each type of fabric. They way she did it looks so wonderful and I don't feel bunchy at all.

I’m so sorry I don’t have a pic—my dress has tulle and I got it done at DB. There are 3 layers so the inner two bustle under and the outer tulle bustles over and I thought it looked super pretty! Because of all the layers it was kinda pricy. The bottom of my dress has a horsehair trim (about two inch wide thicker tulle) and the way that moved with it was pretty.

    Thanks!
I’ll also mention it had an under bustle and an over bustle. She pulled the lining under and the tulle over.
It was complicated. Make sure whoever will be bustling you up looks at it or goes to your last fitting with you so they know how to do it. I did not do this and it took 3+ people to get it done

I'm worried about this as well, a lot of my bottom is tulle! Thank you everyone for pictures. I was hoping for a wrist strap but now I'm not so sure it would look good!

Has anyone not bustle their dress for the reception

I went today and I messed up in asking her to lower my bustle, but i guess it'll be fine. I dont want to go back and have them redo it

So the pic on the left is how the seamstress did it the first time
The pic on the right is how we finalized the bustle.
I had told her I wanted it to sweep a bit on the floor which is why she lowered it
Now that I did the side by side I wish I would have just listened to her.
It's fine though. It might just be me over thinking everything
