Bustle talk...... French or Traditional?

SoontobeMrsRivas, on March 13, 2016 at 1:11 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

What kind of bustle did you have done? I did a French bustle, didn't know it was called that, saw a picture of one and loved it. Showed it to my alterations lady and she said it was a French bustle... Lets see yours Smiley smile

I like tiered french bustles or sideswept---I'm not a fan of the other styles. I may go completely without (we're not having dancing, I can stand or sit for most of the reception).

French! I was looking for a ball gown largely because I loooove a big poofy French bustle. I ended up with a fit and flare that has a fair bit of train and some pickups, so I'll still get the effect I wanted.

I think mine will be a tiered French bustle. My dress already looks like it has a lot of layers so this one matches it the best

My satin underlay was in a French, while the lace overlay was in a ballroom bustle.

Probably the best picture I have of it.

I want a French bustle! I didn't care for the single point bustle that's usually done for my dress. And I've heard of so many breaking. I like it when the French bustle is low like yours! Smiley smile

I think a lot of bustles look awkward so before I bought my dress I had the consultant show me different ways the dress could be bustled. The one I liked the look of the best was the French bustle so I'll probably go with that when the time comes!

@Jersey Jen, I totally agree- our dress definitely shows the lace hem best with a French bustle! Only decision is tiered or not.

I don't like the way my dress (Maggie Sottero - Briony) looked with a French bustle, so I chose a regular one. Plus the French would have been $50 extra. I'll see how it turns out tomorrow at my second fitting!

Emilyg, Haha, I didn't even know tiered was a thing. I had to google. I like the regular french better so that's probably what I'll end up with!

Mine was a 9 point bustle. I have to say, whatever they did to it, thankfully none of the points broke. People stepped on it numerous times! Also, don't mind my husband. I'm not sure what was happening here lol
