Bustle - Silk Ballgown

Casey, on August 11, 2020 at 2:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
I’ve recently been looking through bustle ideas and I honestly hate the look of bustles. Ideally I would love to have a bustle that makes it look like the dress is just floor length. Any opinions?Bustle - Silk Ballgown 1

You could probably do one that's at the base of your tail bone that's very minimal... But I would definitely check with your seamstress.

I felt the same about bustles and chose to go with a french bustle (under bustle) and I am so happy with how it turned out. When you take it in for alterations you could have your seamstress pin it in different style to see what looks best

I agree with you that a french or under bustle will look best for your gorgeous dress. Daughter's dress had a satin lining and a couple layers of tulle & lace. Her seamstress did an under bustle for the lining layer and a three-point over bustle (to her waist) for the tulle layers. Her a-line/ballgown dress looked gorgeous bustled, with the train seeming to disappear and entire full skirt evenly skimming the floor in one straight line. Good luck!

You could do a ballroom bustle that tucks everything underneath. I hate bustles too for the most part lol, I might just have my dress tailored so that it doesn't even have one.

I hate bustles, so I’m planning on having the train removed so I can avoid needing one altogether. I’m also getting married outside, so it would drag in the grass.

You can get it bustled to make it look like a dress. It's generally called an underbustle, as others have mentioned. Just let your seamstress know you want it to look like that. Keep in mind that it is one of the most expensive bustles because it requires a lot of points for that look. Each point costs $10-$25, depending on the area. My ballgown required 20 points to achieve this look.

I'm considering doing the same. I'll probably have them weigh both options when I go for my first fitting to make the decisions.

That's definitely my next option if I don't like the look of how they recommend bustling.
