Bustle Question

Hello Brides!

I just went to my first appointment with my seamstress that the shop that sold me my dress recommends. The seamstress was a wonderful woman. My dress has a very long train in the back, but it's tulle. There is lace edging that I want to show in my bustle. I asked for the English bustle, and let her do her work. As she was doing it, she was pinning up at my waist, and she said she would need 6 points. I was a bit confused since there was fabric everywhere because the ladies at the dress shop showed me what the English bustle would look like, but this has so many more layers.....

My question for you ladies is, 1) Should an English bustle be attach right at my waist? I thought it was lower on my backside. 2) is 6 buttons normal?

I felt like it might have been more of a ballroom bustle. I might be in the early stages of panic. I'm thinking about calling her tomorrow and telling her to not touch any bustle at this point, and wait till next week for the 2nd appointment. Not sure, but wanted to ask the bride tribe!

I would call her - tell her you want to play around with it a little more before making your decision

My seamstreas suggested the same thing for me too. My train is also very long. I don't want to go with a bustle but i dont want to ruing my dress. Plus in a way i don't know what type of bustle will look good with a real long trian. Just letting you know mine told me the same thing.

It depends on the dress, the way the train is shaped, and how long the train is compared to your height. My dress will need 9 buttons because I am short, have a long train, and my skirt has a bunch of layers in it. In order to make it flow with the rest of the dress, we needed a bunch of buttons.

Did you like how it looked bustles? That's what matters!

So I have a long (and heavy) train and am doing a french bustle. She has 6 bustles in my dress right now to hold everything up!

I know it's not an english bustle but I figure it might be similar in terms of amount of buttons and bustles needed Smiley smile
