Bustle price

Mrs_MLF, on March 18, 2016 at 12:39 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

I know I have to talk directly to the alterations people, but just want a good idea of cost. My dress needs 0 alterations for size but today at my accessory appt the David's consultant asked if I wanted a bustle added. The dress has a train, and it's solid beaded lace so quite heavy. I think I really want to add one but not if it's going to cost more than the dress did.

For those that had a bustle added how much was it & how many buttons did you need?

Look for the other bustle thread on here tonight.

Davids Bridal charges $50 for a 3 point bustle and $7 for each additional point. I had a 9 point bustle that cost about $100. The seamstress will pin it different ways and help you decide on the bustle style and how many points.

You are going to want a bustle or else you will have to drag that train around your reception and people will step on it.

Thank you! I'm lost on how to search on here.

The David's consultant had me thinking it was going to be WAY more expensive. Her words were "almost as much as your dress"

I think if you do an under bustle (where the buttons are under the dress instead of outside) it takes a lot more work, and is more expensive. I am not 100% sure about that though

The seamstress pinned my dress in an underbustle to show me what it looks like, but I choose a "regular" bustle (I don't know the term). There was no price difference. You need to make an appointment with the alterations department and talk to a seamstress because the consultant seems like she doesn't know what she is talking about!

I went to a local alteration shop and paid $70 for a hem and adding a bustle. $25 for the bustle and $45 for the hem. I bought my dress from David's but I heard that the shop in my town has been known to just about destroy dresses. I just politely told them I had a friend who would alter my dress for me. Take my advice, go local!

I just had two ribbons to tie. Nice and easy.
