Bustle or no bustle?

Laken, on January 13, 2020 at 10:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
So like all of us I got my dress and of course I’m in love. I have a medium sized train that would likely need a bustle but I’m so afraid of altering my dress and having buttons or something showing. Those of you that bustled, were you happy with the results? Did anyone bustle and wish they hadn’t? Or vice verse?

My train is long so I will need a bustle, I was thinking of doing a french bustle to make it less noticeable.

I am getting my train bustled but I would rather pull it up and maybe see a button than having people step on the dress throughout the reception. I don't think people would even notice a button or two down lower on your dress. I am sure you will look beautiful and everyone will be looking more towards your face. Smiley smile

I went to a seamstress that focuses on bridal and she didn’t use buttons for my bustle. She used a hook and eye for bustles that were hidden in a seam. I had one that wasn’t and she used a bunch of thread in a matching color in place of a hook and eye (it attaches to a hook in a seam).

My train is too long not to have a bustle and I generally hate most bustles I see, so I'm doing what my seamstress called an "over bustle" instead of an under bustle. This isn't my dress, but mine will look similar to this with three buttons at the top.

It doesn't look like mine needed it, but I wanted one just to be safe. I would bustle because you get the option to use it or not on your wedding day.

I am not bustling, and with PRIDE. I do not like the look of bustles, so I won't be doing one. Smiley heart

My cathedral length train weighed like twenty pounds and I wouldn’t have enjoyed my reception if it wasn’t bustled. My dress also would have been majorly damaged and I’m willing to bet that many of my guests, and myself, would have tripped on it.

My old roommate didn't bustle her dress, and it kept getting stepped on during the entire reception. To me, getting my dress stepped on all night is way worse than the look of a bustle.

My dress was hustled with clear buttons. You couldn’t see them, and it’s definitely worth it.

I don’t love the look of most bustles and I was a bit disappointed with how mine ended up day of (the seamstress made it perfect, but no one ever learned how to properly do it so we rushed through day of) ....however I am SO FREAKIN GLAD I had it bustled bc even the short amount of time I was walking around with my train down was the worst - it was such a relief to get it up and out of the way! My train wasn’t even very long or heavy, but I can’t imagine how obnoxious it would’ve been to drag that thing around all day. I would’ve been basically immobilized. I wanted to be able to dance! There’s no way I could’ve rocked the dance floor without a bustle. No regrets even though it wasn’t done up as pretty as the seamstress made it look.

I just dont know how I could possible bustle it the day of, knowing it looks like my train was pinched wrong or something. Those pictures last a lifetime, and I'd always think it looks weird. Lol
