Bustle on simple gown

Helene, on August 28, 2020 at 6:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

I have a very simple gown with just a dove satin skirt. for the bustle the seamstress has loops on the top of the train which are showing. She is claiming the loops cannot go anywhere else or be disguised since the train is plain. does anyone have any experience with this?

The only option I can really see is to do an under bustle instead. My seamstress attached four ribbons under my skirt and train: two at the top and two lower down. When you tie the top left with the bottom left and top right with the bottom right it creates a kind of waterfall look in the back. She should have discussed options with you before just putting visible lips on the top of the train!

It sounds like you need a different bustle for sure.

I had a very simple dress and did not have visibly loops on it. She used a small hook (from a hook and eye closure) that was hidden in the seams. That hooked into some stitches that she also hid in the seams.

I would definitely switch to a french bustle. It'll work beautifully with a simple dress and that way the loops can be hidden inside the dress. I would also go to a different seamstress.
