Bustle on a ball gown

Monica, on October 7, 2018 at 7:48 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
Hi all!
i just ordered my dress (in love with it!) but I’m worried about the bustle. I love the clean lines of the fabric so I don’t want to see folds. Is it possible to bustle without seeing folds in the fabric?
Thanks in advance!!

I absolutely love the back of your dress.

I would talk to your seamstress. They can do magic!

Agree to talk with a seamstress - I'm guessing you could bustle it under so you still have the clean look.

Yes, an under bustle (I think it's also sometimes referred to as a European bustle) will pull the extra fabric up and underneath the skirt so that the back bottom edge is roughly even with the hem in the front. It would look beautiful with your dress and won't ruin the smooth line of the skirt. It works with sets of ribbon ties that are tied together (it kind of reminds me of a roman shade window covering that when opened folds up underneath itself, if that makes sense?). Daughter likes the look much better than an over (or American) bustle, which she describes as looking like the bride is "p__ping tulle".... Sorry, crude, but once she said it I can't get the imagine out of my head. Smiley winking
