Burlap Aisle Runner

Melissa, on March 19, 2015 at 3:05 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

I'm getting married on my family farm by the lake. Rustic theme; hay bails (covered in quilts so they won't stick anyone sitting on them), burlap and mason jars.

I'm thinking about having a burlap aisle runner but wondering what the reviews are? anyone have personal experience with it? do it bunch up? we are all wearing our cowboy boots so not worried about poking holes in it. I would get the aisle runner steaks to make sure it stays in place. Its a gravel road to the lake with grass on either side where the hay bails will be. Also plan on seating everyone from the outside of the hay bails so the runner would stay clean for the bridal party/bride.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Smiley smile

I was also going to do a burlap runner and then I read a lot of things about burlap runners and runners in general and especially at outdoor ceremonies and they seem to be more hassle then they're worth. I've watched so many YouTube videos about runner fails and while funny I don't want that to be me.

Would the runner be on the gravel road and staked down? If so, and if everyone is wearing boots, it should work.

I can tell you from experience, that the paper/lightweight fabric runners don't work well on slippery floors, sand, grass, mulch, or dirt.

Not discouraging! Smiley smile It's great to get all the reviews as I have zero experience with it at all! so if you've been to weddings before and have first hand experience that's exactly what im looking for! thanks so much! I haven't looked at you tube for fails but I'll check that out also! thanks!

Nancy T - Yes! I was thinking about getting a 5 or 6 ft wide burlap runner 60 - 75 feet long to cover up so much of the gravel road to the lake... on each side of the road is grass which is where we'll put the hay bails for people to sit. That much burlap has to be heavy and stay down? i would think so.. but not sure.

oh no! not good that the paper/lightweight fabric runner did not work well!

Thank you so much for your comment!
