Burger bar

Laken, on June 10, 2020 at 7:01 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
So we are doing a burger bar for our reception.

If you’ve done this or something similar, how did your organize it? Like how did people get condiments and burger toppings? What else did you serve?
If you have pics, please post them! Smiley smile
Thanks!

I've had burger bars at work before! they would have different sauces in squeeze bottles or in bowls on the side. and they would have stuff like lettuce, tomato, pickles, red onions, sauteed mushrooms or onion as well for people to add. i would do different cheeses too if i were you!

Are you doing this all yourself or is the caterer setting it up? If the caterer is doing it, I would assume they have experience. You need a way to keep the burgers warm without drying out, which is where the caterer comes in.

I've seen lots of pictures on Pinterest (do a search for burger bar) where the toppings are set up like a salad bar (like you would do at a regular summer bbq get together) with tongs to grab everything. Sauces in labeled squeeze bottles (you can buy at Costco and print your own labels). Have a variety of cheeses.

A variety of buns is a good idea too: multigrain, Hawaiian rolls, sesame seed, gluten free, etc. Make sure they are all labeled.

Also don't forget the vegetarians/vegans with something they can eat, as well as vegan cheese options which are labeled for them.

As far as sides, you can serve anything. With a caterer, they may be able to do fresh french fries on site. Or keep it simple with summer salads: potato, pasta, etc.

We didn't have a burger bar, but we had nacho bar. Each item had it's own bowl with tongs or spoons. I would probably do something similar for a burger bar. I found the picture below on Pinterest. You'd have spoons for each individual topping/condiment for guests to put on themselves. A good side dish would be fresh cut fries. You could have different dipping sauces like cheese, mustard, ketchup, and BBQ for the fries as well. We had a candy bar as well. Like the nacho bar, each type of candy had it's own glass bowl. Spoons were provided for guests to use for candy that wasn't individually wrapped. I purchased cute goodie bags for our guests to put their candy in with our names and wedding date. I have included photos of our nacho bar and candy bar so you can see how they were set up. Our venue set up the nacho bar since they provided the catering and our decorator set up the candy bar since that wasn't something our venue offered. But right now having self-served bars/buffets aren't recommended because of Covid. A lot of venues are eliminating buffets because of this.

For some reason on my previous post the photos of our nacho and candy bar wouldn't uploaded so I've included them below.

We are having pulled pork sandwiches with a salad bar. We are using jars and bowls for all the individual toppings and we have squeeze bottles for all the different BBQ sauce options and salad dressings.
