Bunching on dress?

Nicole, on April 6, 2019 at 2:14 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Hi ladies,

Went to my fitting today after alterations and I'm just not sure what exactly the problem is with my dress. It doesn't feel too tight but I have a lot of bunching around the waist. The seamstress said it was the fabric because its crepe and wrinkles easily. The bust seems to hang a bit too, but it's not too big, it's quite snug. Also, you can see the seam where the fabric panels met in the front and also the seam on the lining. Can anything be done about that?

Thanks so much!

If you tug the wrinkled part down and it doesn’t unwrinkle then I think it’s something that needs to be fixed! Even then you shouldn’t have to be pulling at it for it to look right! Have you tried being more insistent about it?

It comes down a bit but immediately goes back up when Im moving at all. I dont want to be pulling it all night too ya know? You're right, something isnt right. I'll be more insistent. I hate when seamstresses act like the problem is invisible :/

I think you're SOL on this one I had a dress with similar fabric not ill fitting at all and it did the same thing. I think it's just an issue with the fabric itself.

I've attached a picture for you.

Thank you! As do you! Good luck in finding your fix, but just know if nothing can be done you're the only one that is going to notice it unless you point it out.

I’d say it needs to be let out a little in the hips - mine did the same until it was let out.

What do you have on under it? A shaper panty, not that you need one, might give it a better foundation to lay smooth.

It does look like maybe if it is let out in the hips a little, the wrinkles will fall out. I've had dresses do that before and it had nothing to do with the fabric. I just have wider hips so the dress was trying to creep up

My dress does that! 🙄 It's a poly crepe material and I was told it is meant to drape & that a seamstress can get it fitted so when I'm standing straight, it'll lay flat. But any movement and it bunches up. It's pretty snug around the rib cage area and I'd like it tighter around the waist but I think that would only increase the little folds. I'm in that boat with ya. Though tbh, it's really not a bad or negative look, but I do understand you wanting it to lay flat.
