Buffet vs plated

Jenai , on January 17, 2018 at 7:46 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15
I can see why so many people are afford of WW forums. I’m in a fb wedding planning group and the word tacky is banned .

Anywho , when you use an outside caterer , do they do the whole three course meal service plus drinks ( non alcoholic)
Is buffet a doable option for 100 people ?
I’m stuck between all inclusive vs outside caterers
buffet vs plated etc

It depends on the caterer. Every caterer I have contacted is able to do both.

Buffet is definitely doable for 100+ people. Our venue comes with catering but they are able to do buffet for up to 250 people (the max guest count for the venue).

Just talk with the caterers your interested in. It doesn't hurt to communicate. The worst that will happen is that they won't be able to do everything you need them to do. And at that point just move on to the next caterer.

I'm doing a formal buffet for a hundred that was all inclusive with venue. Was totally worth it. They made my dream menu.

I have 240 guests and I'm doing buffet but I am paying for my alcohol. Many caterers do big parties so you should be all set for buffet or even plated Smiley smile

Any good caterer should be able to create a menu that suits what you're looking for assuming you don't want anything that's hard to find.

A buffet is doable for 100 people, if you can, have two lines going at once and if you have a carver, don't make them the first thing people stop at....a wedding we went to did that and it took so much more time for tables to get called up because everyone was stopped at the very beginning.

I'm a fan of plated over buffet. I've left some buffets hungry because other guests took much more than was anticipated so there wasn't enough for everyone or the caterer just wasn't fast at replenishing. I don't care for standing in line or waiting for my table to be called. When I've been to a plated dinner it moved much more quickly than a buffet would have I think for the same number of guests.

We're doing a plated and when we did the tasting we got to taste one of each of the appetizers, a small version of the salad, what I assume is a full or nearly full version of the non vegetarian option, and a small portion of the vegetarian option. We left satisfied, maybe had a snack later but we'll also be doing cake the day of!

We plan on inviting 101 people, and the plan is to have a buffet dinner. The salad will be plated, but the dinner itself is a buffet. We are lucky enough to bring in our own alcohol too, and we're only doing beer and wine.

A buffet is totally doable for 100 people, and any good caterer should be able to do plated or buffet.

We didn't go with an all-inclusive venue which meant using an outside caterer. However, they are the only preferred caterer for the venue, so they know how the venue works. We are doing a buffet for about 100 people as well.

A buffet is doable for 100 people, I agree have two tables running.

First wedding - 125 people, buffet

    Second wedding 42 people, buffet

No regrets, although I would recommend buffet servers as people WILL take 4x the amount of food you expect. I want everyone to be full and happy, let's get everyone fed first THEN go for seconds!!! LOL!

Our family is cooking for our wedding. We are definitely having a buffet. Either way is fine though.

Yes! My cousin did a buffet with 120 people. Just make sure the DJ calls tables up individually so there isn't a ridiculously long line. The catering company also were diligent about refilling anything that was running low, and everything was super hot when you got it. I think some caterers do drinks, but some don't. Some people get their nonalcoholic drinks from their bartenders. Plated always seems very formal to me and a nice touch, but I've never been disappointed with a buffet.
