Budget with only 40 Guest

Valerie, on June 14, 2018 at 4:09 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11

Hello everyone!! I am start starting to plan our wedding and I trying to figure out our budget. As of right now I have it set at $7,000. How ever I would rather have it closer to $5,000. We are planning on it being a small intimate wedding with less than 40 people. I plan on DIYing everything I can.

What is a good budget? Has anyone had a small wedding at a venue?

Setting a budget is entirely dependent on where you live. The cost of living varies tremendously from state-to-state, but I see no reason why you couldn't make a $5k budget with 40 guests work - esp. since you are planning on DIYing the majority of your decor.

We did 5k on a wedding of 40. BUT that also included honeymoon. So yes I think it really depends on where you live but it's possible. We live in northern nv

We did - we invited 50 people, 44 were there, total, including us. We had an 11am ceremony at an arboretum followed by a lunch reception, no dance. We pulled in it for less than $3000.

Venue $500 at the MN Landscape Arboretum

Reception: Event room in our favorite restaurant, no fee for room if we met $750 food minimum and drink but we met that!

Food and drink: $1100 (Including alcohol, people did not drink much!) I know hubby tipped the servers very well in addition to the cost.

Photography $500 - limited time with her.

Pro musician: $350, again, big tip, awesome job!

    Invites, postage: around $100

    Floral: $65.00

No bridal party, no decorations, the room was beautiful on it's own. No dance.

I did not include rings or dress as they have no bearing on the comfort of the guests.

    Twin Cities here! Good luck!

Hi Valerie! Welcome to the WeddingWire Community! Smiley ring Not only does location play a factor in your budget, your overall plans and ideas also impact how much you should account for. Also, if you plan to DIY everything, be sure to factor in the costs of buying supplies, but it can still work well! I think you should check out our Cost Guide to get an idea of how much different vendors and services cost near your location! Best of luck!

I think that sounds reasonable! I was in a wedding last year with 75 people (so almost twice the size). They budgeted $20,000 but she had fancier stuff that you wouldn't have to have like professional hair & makeup, wedding party, a florist for all decor, a nice DJ, photo booth, etc.

I’m planning on about 40 and our venue (all-inclusive minus the photographer) comes to $7,000! Definitely do able, just depends on your area/what you want/etc.

We invited 80 .. im hoppung 60 come .. will cost anywhere from 23 to 27k after everything ... my venue is a bit high imo .. if you do a nice no daning reception .. that cuts alot of stuff .. like a dj ect .. which addes up .. it can be done definitly .. it will ve a more layed back elegant affair as opposed to a party

We invited 42. And 30 I think is our total coming . I think by its all said and done we will spend about 7-8G but that includes honeymoon for 6 days. Which was $2250 alone.
I kept things simple with nearly no decor. No wedding party. No gifts. We only have an alter and my bouquet as decor. And some hand fan programs.
