Does anyone have tips to save money on a wedding? I’m from New Jersey (right outside Philly) and my fiancee is from Connecticut. Everything we are looking into comes out to be about 20 grand. We seem to have connections for most things but still can’t get it any lower. We were hoping to only send about 15 total and don’t have that much wiggle room. Our caterer alone is about 8 grand and that’s the cheapest we can find. Any tips or tricks for a budget wedding?

We saved a chunk of change just by changing our reception "style." When we decided to forego the 4 course plated dinner "wedding reception" and go for the "social gathering" we went from $15K to $5K total price. All we lost was floor length table linens (they are now 3/4 length - um, ok), the cake was no longer included (fine by me as we wanted to do cupcakes anyway and the total cost for 90 cupcakes and an 8" top layer for us to cut by the same bakery came to $250) and we lost the champagne toast (no big deal as you can "cheers" with any drink in front of you). We both wanted to do two very heavy appetizer stations, (all plated, none passed) and then do food stations instead of your typical please choose "beef, fish or chicken" plated meal. So, it completely worked out in our favor AND saved us a ton of money.

Yes! We ended in ct at the water view in Monroe. Every thing is pretty much included so it works well and it’s gorgeous. We are going a little over bc we didn’t want to cut the list down.

That’s super awesome!!! I’ll have my fiancé see if that’s an option for us. We’re going to check my Fuji in two weeks to see if we can make that work.
